Last call for 2019 resolutions! Ok, it’s never too late to set a new goal; but the end of January is just around the corner and that means next week we are moving on. If you’ve been following along, you know we’ve been focusing on a few of our favorites from the list of top 10 New Year’s resolutions and translating how they might apply to your business.
For our final week: “Exercise more!” I need to move more. It’s the one thought that never fails to cross my mind every single day. By now I should realize the universe is giving me a pretty hard nudge. Having the same thought every day certainly means I should listen up. Right? Most of us tend to think of losing weight, or getting in better physical shape, when we think of exercising more. Here are a few ideas on how to apply this week’s resolution to exercise more to our business, instead of our bodies.
–Exercise your mind! Last week we talked about the benefits of learning a new skill; which is one way we can give our brain a workout. Reading is another fantastic option to stretch our mind muscles. There are a LOT great reads that will benefit our businesses; but don’t overlook diving into the pages of fiction book too. Reading can be a relaxing way to build imagination and creativity; which can translate into creative ideas in our home offices.
–Put tasks on repeat! Repetition builds confidence. Confidence is like a muscle; the more you use it, the stronger it gets. The more you do that thing that scares you most in your business, the better you get at it and the easier it becomes. You might have faked it at first, but through the exercise of repeating that task over and over you’ve built confidence. Suddenly, that scary task is simply another part of how you do you in your business.
–Keep moving! Physical movement increases alertness and focus by getting our blood pumping. It’s also a fantastic stress reliever. Climbing the stairs for 10 minutes can give you a bigger energy boost than coffee or soda; and you’ll be burning calories too!
If you haven’t thought about setting a resolution or two for your business in the new year yet, it’s not too late. Take a tip or two from our Resolution Round Up posts this month; and be sure to share your ideas with us too. We love to hear from you!
